Itta Bena, Ms.- Azaria Howard led the Mississippi Valley Devilettes in total points as they fall to Jackson State by a score of 90-61 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday evening.
Shelli Thigpen finished the game with 13 points on five of ten shooting in 31 minutes of play.
The first quarter Jackson State opened the game with a 20-0 run, and by halftime the lead was up to 51-21.
As a team the Devilettes shot 41.2 percent from the field while Jackson State shot 42.3 percent. Mississippi Valley was four of ten from behind the three point line and as a team the Tigers shot 36 percent from three.
Three players for Jackson State ended the game with double digit scoring oututs. They were lead by Dayzsha Rogan who finished with 19 points and two rebounds.
The Devilettes return to the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex on Monday, February 3rd as they will host Grambling State to continue conference play.
