Itta Bena, Ms.- Azaria Howard led the Mississippi Valley Devilettes in total points with 18, as they get their first conference win against the Tigers of Grambling State by a score of 68-57 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup on Monday night.

Shelli Thigpen finished the game with 16 points on five of nine shooting, and added nine rebounds in 30 minutes of play.Â
The Devilettes led from the opening tip and never took their foot off the pedal. They also led the game in points from inside the paint along with points off of turnovers.Â
As a team the Devilettes shot 50 percent from the field while Grambling State shot 32.8 percent. Mississippi Valley was two for six from the three point line and as a team the Tigers shot 21.2 percent.
The Tigers were lead by Justice Coleman who finished with 20 points on 50 percent shooting from the field. Candice Parramore added ten points to give Grambling two student athletes with double digit scoring outputs.
The Devilettes return to the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex on Saturday, February 8th as they will host Alabama State to continue conference play.Â
