Lorman, Ms.- Sharp shooting Delta Devils didn't have enough in overtime to outlast the Braves in a 92-88 loss on Saturday evening in Lorman, Mississippi.
Mississippi Valley proved that they could make the extra pass by tallying a season high 19 assists as a team. Those passes lead to open shots for shooters like Senior Torico Simmons, who finished with a team high 22 points. Simmons also had six assists and five rebounds.
Freshman Quinton Alston scored 20 points on eight of fifteen shooting, not to mention his eight rebounds and two steals.
Caleb Hunter finished the game with 19 points, seven assists and five rebounds. He also made big plays on the defensive end of the court by leading the team with four steals.
Alcorn State had four double digit scorers with Troymain Crosby leading the way with his 22 points and 13 rebounds.
The Delta Devils head to Baton Rouge on Monday to continue conference play against the Jaguars of Southern University. Tip off set for 7:30 or 20 minutes following the Women's game.
