Itta Bena, Miss.- Over the course of the next couple of weeks, Mississippi Valley State Athletics will be checking in with our athletic teams on how they feel about the upcoming school year and the possible return to sports
In this week's edition, we checked in with the Devilettes Soccer team, under the direction of Head Coach Frank Davies.
Merica Abnathy
Hometown: Lakeland, Florida
Position: Forward
Major: HPER
Classification: Freshman
Q: What are you most excited about coming to Mississippi Valley State University?
A: I am mostly excited to meet my teammates. I've heard and seen such good things about this group and their chemistry, which is excellent. I can't wait to be a part of the family.
Q: What have you been doing to keep yourself busy during the quarantine?
A: I've been following my summer workout plan, trying to stay in shape for upcoming season.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most in the upcoming semester?
A: I'm looking forward to the long days training with the team. I feel like bonding will take place during those long work outs and I can get to know my teammates better!
Remeya Ganesh
Hometown: Toronto, Canada
Position: Midfielder
Major: HPER
Classification: Senior
Q: What are you most excited about returning to Mississippi Valley State University?
A: I'm most excited to be back with my teammates and friends. My team is like family and I can't wait to get back to training with them.
Q: What have you been doing to keep yourself busy during the quarantine?
A: I'm grateful that I get to spend time with my family. We've been trying new baking recipes and going biking/exploring. I also have more time to work out and focus on my fitness so I can be ready for the season.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most in the upcoming semester?
A: I'm looking forward to soccer season. It's my senior year and I know the whole team is as excited as I am. We want to come back with a ring.
