ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University volleyball program stared down the 2021 SWAC Regular Season Champions and refused to back down, winning the third set against Jackson State by a score of 25-23 before falling in four.

In that third frame, the Delta Devilettes notched a game-best 16 kills while besting the Lady Tigers in hitting percentage by 28 percentage points (.171 to .143).

Graduate student Kiya Garza had the biggest match of the four seniors honored prior to first serve, posting a game-high 17 digs plus a kill and an assist.

Senior Destini Banks had a stellar defensive day at the net, contributing three blocks including the only solo MVSU tallied, adding three digs to her total as well.

Senior Chardea Berthelot was second on the club in digs with eight and logged four kills.
Â
Senior Victoria Mallard registered the second-most kills for the Delta Devilettes (5), hitting .833 in the process with no errors on six attacks on top of two digs plus a block.

Freshman Jeila Fullerton saved one of her best matches of the season for last, finishing with a season and team-best 13 kills with seven digs and a block on defense.

The freshman setter platoon of Sydney Ross (19) and Keymara Coleman (11) averaged 7.5 assists per set combined over the course of the match including nine digs as well plus four kills apiece.
