Mississippi Valley State Overview
Â
Since the last meeting between these two squads, Caleb Hunter was selected as the SWAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, and the Delta Devils just missed its first victory of the season in an 82-77 home setback to Arkansas State.
Â
In the back-and-forth battle with the Red Wolves, all but four points for MVSU came from these five players; Caleb Hunter (20), Gary Grant (18), David McCoy (15), Robert Carpenter (10), and Terry Collins (10); as the other two buckets came from Elijah Davis.
Scouting The Opponent: Nicholls Colonels
Nicholls extended its home winning streak to 12 consecutive dating back to January 2, 2021, controlling the contest with Blue Mountain College (87-69) and blowing a double-digit second half lead at Wisconsin as the Red and Gray almost pulled off a stunning upset over the team just one spot outside the Top-25 (71-68).
Ty Gordon continues to be one of the most under-appreciated mid-major stars in the NCAA, dropping 26.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in NSU's 1-1 week.
Manny Littles went off for a double-double of 18 points and 11 boards against the Toppers while recording another 15 rebounds in Madison, Wisconsin.
