Delta Devil Baseball Home Opening Series Against Alcorn State

Itta Bena, Miss.- Mississippi Valley State University Baseball started conference play at home in Itta Bena, Mississippi with a three-game series against the Alcorn State Braves.
 
Game 1
L 3-16
 
The Delta Devils tallied seven hits on 32 at-bats as a team and scored three runs. Third baseman Antonio Walker had a great day at the plate going three for four with one RBI. Nicholas Johnson received his second loss of the season after conceding eight hits and four earned runs in seven innings of work. Ethan Charles came in for relief and gave up four hits, seven walks and five earned runs in two innings.
 
Game 2
L 1-9
 
As a team the Delta Devils finished with three hits on 26 at-bats and scored one run. Catcher Jan Tolentino earned his first hit of the season. Isaiah Valenzuela had a good appearance in his first start of the season. In six innings of work, he tallied seven strikeouts, gave up five hits and four earned runs. Antonio Walker came into relief and pitched three innings. Walker gave up two hits and three earned runs in three innings.
 
Game 3
L 1-14
 
In the final game of the series the Delta Devils accumulated four hits in 28 at-bats and scored one run. At the plate, Freshman Andrew Harris had one base hit and one double. Hunter Stallings had an impressive outing in his second start of the season. Stallings had a career high 11 strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. Stallings received the loss and gave up three earned runs on four hits. Freshman John Dominguez Jr. gave up ten hits and ten earned runs in 1.2 innings played.
