Grambling, LA. – The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes travel south to take on the Grambling State Tigers for a three-game series. The first game of the series took place at the Ruston Sports Complex in Ruston, LA. The remaining two games were played back on the campus of Grambling State University.
Game 1
Cailyn Peterson singled to center field to get MVSU started in the first inning. Then shortly after, Peterson scored the first point for the Devilettes, unearned (1-0). The Tigers also scored in the first inning equaling the score (1-1). The Tigers came back in the second inning scoring their last point of the game (2-1). Brianna Alston doubled to shortstop, while Jaylon Davis doubled to center field. Alston gained a point for the Devilettes, (2-2) Davis followed up behind in the next play to score for the Devilettes in the third, unearned (3-2). In the fourth inning, Demi Slater singled to left field and Shelbi Carson doubled to center field. Slater, Carson and Sydney Wesley each managed to score for the Devilettes advancing the team to (6-2). On the next play, Keisha White doubled to left field while Davis and Alston both scored (8-2). Shortly after, White scored for the Devilettes in the fourth (9-2). In the fifth inning, Carson tripled to right field and scored the final point for the team (10-2). The Devilettes ended with three errors.
Game 2
In the first inning, the Tigers scored the first two points of the game making it (2-0). Keisha White tripled to right field in the second inning and scored on a passed ball for the Devilettes, unearned (2-1). Later, Laeni Terrones singled and Shelbi Carson singled to left field. The Tigers scored two points in the second inning taking them to (4-1). Jaylon Davis singled to center field for the Devilettes in the third inning. The Tigers came back in the bottom of third and averaging seven hits with five points (9-1). The Tigers received their last two points of the game in the fourth inning with two hits (11-1). In the fifth, Terrones doubled and Brianna Alston singled to left field for the Devilettes. The Devilettes ended the game with three errors.
Game 3
The last game of the series went in favor of the Tigers. Laeni Terrones singled to third base in the first inning for the Devilettes. The Tigers scored three times in the first inning with an average of two hits (3-0). In the second, Keisha White doubled to left field for the Devilettes. Cailyn Peterson doubled and Keisha White singled to left field in the top of the fourth. The Tigers scored once and averaged two hits in the bottom of the fourth (4-0). Brianna Alston singled with a bunt in the fifth inning for the Devilettes. Shortly after, Jaylon Davis singled to center field while Jewel Unga scored in the same play (4-1). The Tigers earned their last point in the bottom of the fifth with one hit (5-1). In the sixth inning, White singled to center field for the Devilettes. The Devilettes had zero errors in the game.
