Itta Bena, Miss.- Mississippi Valley State Football team travel to Montgomery, Alabama for a conference match-up against the Hornets of Alabama State University. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m. inside ASU Stadium. The game will be broadcasted locally in Montgomery on the CW Network along with the ASU Sports Network.
Series Information: The Hornets own a 13-2 advantage in the last 15 games of the series against MVSU, dating back to 2005. The last win for the Delta Devils in this series was in 2009, with a seven-point victory on neutral turf in Chicago, Illinois. .
Playing 60-Minutes: The team goal for today's game is to Finish! After tying up the game late in the fourth quarter against UAPB the Delta Devils were unable to contain the Lions and allowed a return touchdown which proved to be the difference in the game. The Delta Devils must play for 60-minutes if they want to capture their first win of the season.
Last Time Out Against ASU: Mississippi Valley State University football failed to score any points for the first time this season falling to Alabama State 24-0 at Rice-Totten Stadium on Saturday. The Delta Devils were held to 217 yards of total offense while the Hornets collected 351 yards scoring three touchdowns and a pair of field goals.
Offensive Adjustments: The Delta Devils look to build on the offensive production that they were able to have against UAPB where they were able to score two rushing touchdowns by the elusive Caleb Johnson. Sophomore Malik Myers had four receptions against UAPB including a 23-yard reception to put the Delta Devils in the red-zone.
Defensive Adjustments: The Defensive unit had another strong outing only allowing two offensive touchdowns, both which came through the air. The defensive line proved to own the line of scrimmage only allowing one rusher more that 50-yards. The Delta Devils look to contain the high-power offensive of the Hornets led by running back Ezra Gray.
