Delta Devil Baseball Play a Four Game Series at Alabama A&M

Huntsville, Al.- The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils had a four game conference series against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in Huntsville, Alabama.
 
Game 1
L 1-3
 
The Delta Devils took the lead early in the top of the second with an RBI double to the left center gap by catcher Ty Washington that scored Andrew Harris. That was the Delta Devils lone run on the day as they accumulated seven hits on 31 at-bats. Mychael Jamison and Ty Washington both had multi-hit ball games. 
 
In the bottom of the third the Bulldogs retook the lead by putting up three runs.
 
It was a pitcher's duel the rest of the way. Isaiah Valenzuela had another great outing, in seven innings of work he gave up seven hits, three earned runs and had six strikeouts. Valenzuela kept the Delta Devils in the game. Angel Maldonado came out the bullpen and did his job in one inning of work he gave up zero hits, zero runs, and had one strikeout.
 
The Delta Devils had their opportunities as they left seven men on base and just came up short. 
 
Game 2
L 6-21
 
In game one of the doubleheader the Delta Devils came out the gate hot. Andrew Harris had the first RBI of the day that scored Willie Johnson. Jayson Jimenez then drove in the second run of the first inning that put Valley up 2-0. 
 
The Bulldogs then responded with four runs in the bottom of the first.
 
MVSU retook the lead in the top of the second. Kyndell Dolphin sparked things back up with a triple to the left center gap that drove in two runs to tie the game back up. Willie Johnson then singled that drove in Dolphin to break the tie. Johnson stole third and scored on a throwing error. The Delta Devils tallied seven hits in 27 at-bats. 
 
Hunter Stallings pitched 3.1 innings gave up eleven hits, nine earned runs, and had five walks. Angel Maldonado came into relief for his second appearance of the series, in 1.2 innings Maldonado gave up two hits, four earned runs, and nine strikeouts. Jayson Jimenez pitched one inning gave up three hits and three earned runs.
 
 
Game 3
L 9-10

In the top of the second, during game two of the doubleheader, Kyndell Dolphin reached on by a fielder's choice, advanced runners to second and third and drove in a run. Willie Johnson doubled to the left field gap that scored two runs and put the Delta Devils up 3-1.
 
The Bulldogs scored five runs in the bottom of the second and retook the lead to make it 6-3.
 
MVSU responded quick in the top of the third with a two-run homerun by Ty Washington, his first of the season which narrowed the gap down to one to make it 5-6.
 
The Bulldogs then ran the lead up to 10-5, but the Delta Devils still had some fight left in them. In the top of the sixth, Jayson Jimenez singled to left to drive in Nick Redick and advanced a runner to second. John Dominguez came through with a clutch two-run triple. Aaron Brazelton grounded out to short that drove in Dominguez to bring deficit back down to one, 9-10.
 
Ethan Charles got the start. In three innings of work Charles gave up seven hits, six earned runs and four walks. Zachary Dews made his first appearance of the season and in three innings of work Dews gave up three hits and two earned runs
 
The Delta Devils rallied back to bring the lead down to one run but could not stir up something in the last inning to complete the comeback. Valley had nine hits on 29 at-bats and left eight runners on base.
 
Game 4
L 7-8
 
The bats were quiet in the last game of the series until the sixth inning. Jan Tolentino came through with a clutch two out single that drove in two runs to tie the game 2-2.
 
In the bottom of the seventh the Bulldogs retook the lead to make it 4-2.
 
Nick Johnson got the start for the Delta Devils. Johnson pitched great, he gave up eight hits and four runs and got the no decision.
 
In the top of the eight the Delta Devils rallied back and scored three runs to take the lead 5-4. Mychael Jamison started it off with an RBI single. Kyndell Dolphin singled to left to drive in Jamison. Aaron Brazelton flied out to center to give the Delta Devils the lead on a SAC fly. 
 
MVSU was back in the driver's seat heading into the top of the ninth. The Delta Devils added two more runs. Iankel Santos got it started with a solo homerun to expand the lead to two. John Dominguez then singled, stole second and third, and scored on a wild pitch to put Valley up by three going into the bottom of the ninth. 
 
Antonio Walker came in out of the bullpen, pitched one inning allowed three hits, four earned runs, and three walks and received the loss.
 
The Bulldogs scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk it off on the Delta Devils.
