Game Notes

Itta Bena, Miss.- Mississippi Valley State will open the gates on Rice-Totten Stadium for the first time since November 16, 2019. The Delta Devils play host to the Lions of Arkansas at Pine-Bluff on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
Series Information: The Lions own a 25-22 advantage in the series against MVSU, which started in 1964. The last win for the Delta Devils in the series was in 2018, with a one-point victory inside Rice-Totten Stadium on Homecoming.

Back to Action: Today's game will be the first time the Delta Devils have taken the field since the 43-7 loss to Jackson State back on March 14, 2021, which marks three weeks in between contest.

Last Time Out Against UAPB:  Mississippi Valley State football allowed nearly 500 yards of total offense from Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a 38-6 rout on Saturday at Simmons Bank Field. The Golden Lions trailed early and then ran off 38 consecutive points for the win. Dejerric Bryant led the Delta Devils to their only touchdown of the afternoon, a 28-yard keeper on their second possession.

Offensive Adjustments: The Delta Devils look to improve on a slow first outing, where they were only able to touch the endzone on one occasion. The first order of business is to control the line of scrimmage and open running lanes for Caleb Johnson and Dedarrian Williams to put early pressure on the Lions.

Defensive Adjustments: After giving up four first half touchdowns in the game at JSU, the Delta Devils were able to right the ship in the second half only allowing one offensive score. Defensive Coordinator Derek Welch and his staff did a great job of mixing up the looks for the Tigers in the second half and hope to build on that going into this game against UAPB.

The Specialist: Junior Orlando Fernandez had a great outing in his season debut, coming away with the Specialist of the Week award.
