Mississippi Valley State Overview:

Valley State has been very cautious taking care of the pigskin, slotting top-50 nationally in turnovers lost (8).

Ronnie Thomas will look to extend his tackle for loss streak to eight consecutive games as he currently sits in the third slot for TFL in the FCS at 2.1 per game and sixth for sacks with 1.17 a matchup.

Jamari Jones will hopefully have his favorite target back in the lineup as top receiver Jacory Rankin is hopeful to play after missing the previous two weeks.

Scouting The Alabama State Hornets:

Alabama State is coming off a hard-fought, gritty Homecoming battle with the eighth-ranked JSU Tigers and have taken down a trio of HBCUs this season including Howard (23-13), Miles (21-13), and Texas Southern (16-13).

ASU has relied primarily on their defense to shut down its opponents, coming into the weekend with top-50 FCS marks in interceptions (5), passing yards allowed (195.8), total defense (330.8), and points allowed per game (22.3).

Colton Adams and Keenan Isaac are the top playmakers on this swarming defense with Adams leading the SWAC with 9.5 tackles a contest while Isaac leads the league with 1.3 passes defended on average.

Auburn transfer Dematrius Davis is the quarterback for Coach Robinson's squad, tossing four touchdowns over 535 yards through the air and 59 yards rushing.
