Scouting The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers:
Â
The reigning conference champions bring an unblemished SWAC record into this Saturday showdown, winning all seven league matchups while seceding just four sets. They also won the Elon/NCAT Tournament in early September by sweeping UNC Greensboro, Elon, and North Carolina A&T.
Â
The Orange and Green were picked to win the league once again with 13 first-place points while proving the voters wise, ranking among the upper-half in the SWAC for every statistical category.
Â
The Lady Rattlers run through the well-oiled three-pronged machine of Dominique Washington, Jada Taylor, and Irem Ucar, who made up all but one of the SWAC's preseason individual award winners.
Â
Washington, Preseason Player of the Year, runs the offense with the third-best kills per set average (3.47) and fourth-highest points per set ratio (3.93) in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Â
Taylor, Preseason Libero of the Year, has been hampered by injuries as she has only played in 48 of FAMU's 79 sets (60.8%).
Â
Ucar, Preseason Setter of the Year, has an absurd assists per set mark of 9.04 as she's dished out 517 helpers over 14 matches.
