Mississippi Valley State Overview:

Chardea Berthelot has done a little bit of everything for Head Coach Mariah Prince, fronting the Devilettes in points (113), points per set (2.17), kills (98), kills per set (1.88), and digs per set (2.02).

On a team where more than half of the student-athletes are freshman (6-of-11, 54.5%) Mikayla Lee has been one of the most impactful as she tops the club in hitting percentage (.047), service aces (15), and assists per set (4.33).

Seerdyn James and Chariah Mabry round out the Green and White's statistical leaders with the former notching 114 digs while the latter has blocked 20 attack attempts.

Scouting The Texas Southern Lady Tigers:

TSU has exceeded expectations so far in 2022, currently sitting in the middle of the pack in the SWAC after being projected to miss the conference tournament, coming into the weekend on a three-match winning streak over the likes of Alcorn, Southern, and Prairie View.

The Lady Tigers are among the upper-half of the league's serving teams, averaging 1.54 aces per set with Chenise Cook leading the way at 0.38.

Preseason All-SWAC First Teamer Thalia Cordero-Moreno has kept her role steady as the top attacker for the Maroon and Gray, topping Texas Southern at 2.03 kills a set.

Scouting The Alcorn Lady Braves:

Alcorn has a trio of wins over fellow HBCU squads including South Carolina State on top of a pair of conference upsets over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The Purple and Gold were expecting to get a much bigger contribution out of outside hitter Mikenzie Young-Mullins but have found it difficult replacing her production as Makayla Wardlaw (136) and Jeda Curry (103) are the only Lady Braves above the century mark for kills.

Scouting The Southern Lady Jaguars:

SUBR received two first place votes in the preseason poll but have underperformed so far with a two-win showing (Alcorn & Prairie View A&M).

While the unit has disappointed in the win column, Preseason All-SWAC selection Xaria Taylor has done her part, leading the Southwestern Athletic Conference with 79 blocks and its third-highest blocks per set average of 1.03. She is one of very few players that can claim to be a club's top blocker and scorer, topping the Lady Jags in kills per set as well at 1.91.
