ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University athletics program recognizes volleyball's
Chardea Berthelot and soccer's
McKenzie McCarthy as the MVSU student-athletes of the week.
Berthelot, a senior outside hitter from LaPlace, Louisiana, set a new career-high with 15 digs versus Alcorn plus a season-best three service aces opposite Texas Southern over the weekend. She led the Devilettes in kills (13), kills per set (1.30), aces (4), and aces per set (0.40) while finishing runner-up to
Mallory Lamport regarding digs (33, 3.30 p/s) through three matches at the SWAC Round-Up.
McCarthy, a senior goalkeeper from Olive Branch, Mississippi, ended her illustrious Devilettes career in the best possible way, spinning her second shutout in three games and fourth of her Valley tenure as she made eight saves over 25 shots faced in a 0-0 tie versus Alcorn on Senior Day.
Soccer has officially ended its season while volleyball meets Jackson State in the capital city at 6 p.m. on Friday evening.
