Mississippi Valley State Top Performers:
Â
- Terry Collins has been the definition of consistent for Head Coach George Ivory, topping the team in points in all three games of the Rainbow Classic and dropping 15 exactly in each with tonight's output being a game-high. He went 3-for-5 from three-point territory, made one two-point shot, and was perfect once again from the free-throw line (4-of-4) as he has yet to miss in 17 attempts on the campaign.
Â
- Danny Washington had an efficient evening, making half of his eight field goal attempts for 11 points, his first double-digit scoring night as an NCAA student-athlete, and had the same number of steals (3) than Eastern Washington as a team (3).
Â
- Alvin Stredic was the third Devil in double figures and it was his third time doing so in 2022-23, recording 11 points as well as a team-best five rebounds.
Â
- It is not often the case where a 6-foot-8 forward/center is the club leader in assists, but that's exactly where Michael Barber currently resides, tying Terry Collins with six helpers after passing two out versus Eastern Washington.
Â
Notes:
Â
- The game was chockful of lead changes and momentum swings as the lead changed hands a staggering 16 times including 11 instances in the second half while the game was tied another ten times.
Â
- On the analytical side of things, Valley won the battle in the paint with 24 points to the Eagles' 14 and the Delta Devils secured three more points from turnovers (15-12).
Â
- The men from Mississippi also out-blocked its foe for the first time this season (3-1) and logged more steals for the second time in four ballgames (8-3).
