Harleaux, Holmes & Mahoney Lead Devilettes To Convincing Win Over Colonels


ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball program rode the backs of Zaria Harleaux, SyAnn Holmes, and Zakiya Mahoney to Coach Kimberly Anderson's first career win as an NCAA Division I Head Coach, steamrolling Nicholls in a 64-49 win on Jessie Harris Education Day.

  • Mahoney was handing out assists like it was pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, serving up a career and game-high eight assists as well as season-bests in both points (13) and boards (8).
 
  • Milia Gibson tied her personal-best scoring contest at MVSU, dropping ten points with three rebounds, a steal plus an assist on top of it.
 
  • Five-foot-eight guard Krisen Hunt has been a highly unlikely rebounding threat for the Devilettes, tying her career benchmark for boards for the second time in four games with seven.

  • The Green and White set new season-bests in nearly every statistical category including field-goal percentage (34.7%), rebounds (49), assists (15), and points (64).
 
  • Valley thoroughly dominated the Colonels, securing a plus-12 rebounding margin, forced twice as many turnovers as they committed, and logged three more steals.
 
Coach Anderson will attempt to start a winning streak on Black Friday when it battles Lamar in the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic at 5 p.m. in the Reed Green Coliseum.
