Harleaux Leads The Offense With 12 Points At Mississippi State


STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball program fell into an early hole in the first quarter and could not dig itself back out in a 104-47 setback at Mississippi State on Wednesday evening.

  • Zaria Harleaux was the most impressive student-athlete donning Green and White, leading the offense with 12 points as well as four boards and a steal in her first contest at MVSU after transferring in from Southern University.
 
  • Krisen Hunt was the top rebounder and assister for Coach Anderson's bunch, putting together seven and three, respectively, on top of one of the team's two three-pointers.
 
  • Kerrigan Johnson was responsible for the other make from long distance, tying Hunt for the team-high of three assists and falling one point shy of double-digits (9).
 
  • SyAnn Holmes picked up the club's first block of the campaign, rejecting a State shot attempt around the four-minute mark in the final frame.
 
Notes:
 
  • With the setback, the Devilettes have dropped 13 consecutive season openers, last cracking the win column in 2009 with a 71-58 victory over Stillman.
