Mississippi Valley State Overview

Valley's offensive outburst has the Diamond Devils in uncharted territory. . .at the top of the NCAA leaderboards. Mississippi Valley State leads the country in both batting average (.448) and on-base percentage (.607), slotting in the top-five for steals per game (5.50) and scoring (15.5) plus a top-25 showing regarding total stolen bases (11) and slugging percentage (.552).

Maury Weaver is second in the NCAA, averaging two steals a ballgame, Davon Mims and Christopher Soeder share third place nationally in runs scored per game at 2.50, Ty Washington ranks sixth for doubles per game (1.00) plus top-50 in hits a contest (2.00).

Soeder and Antonio Walker both fall inside the top-35 regarding on-base percentage at .700 and .667, respectively while Washington and Darrien Chapman are both top-15 for RBIs per night (2.50).

Scouting The Opponent: Nicholls Colonels

While the Red and Gray's record of 1-4 and stats may not look impressive, it can be misleading as they faced SEC foe Missouri and New Orleans baseball power Tulane in its first five contests, taking one-of-four from the Tigers in Thibodaux.

Jacob Hager has been the most consistent batter for Nicholls, logging a .538 batting average (2nd in Southland), averaging 1.75 hits per game (7th in Southland) for a total of seven base knocks (8th in Southland), and sporting a slugging percentage of .769 (9th in Southland).
