PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball program played shorthanded with several key players missing and still gave Arkansas-Pine Bluff a fight during a 93-79 defeat Saturday afternoon.

  • Terry Collins had an effective day, logging his sixth consecutive double-figure scoring outing with 16 points on 5-of-8 (62.5%) field goal attempts and 3-for-5 (60%) from downtown.
 
  • Gary Grant has now gone 11 straight contests with at least ten points on the board, contributing 16 to the final stat sheet.
 
  • Alex Perry had his best performance of 2021-22, providing a season-best seven points and four rebounds while not missing any of his three shots.
 
  • David McCoy was the Delta Devils' leader in both boards (6) and dimes (4) while Kadar Waller had season-highs of three rebounds and a team-best three steals.
 
Notes
 
  • Valley was able to claim a win in the turnover department (16-13) and scored five more points off the Lions' mistakes (22-17).
 
The road does not get any easier for the Devils as it travels to Lorman for a bout with the first place Alcorn Braves at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night.
