Mississippi Valley State Top Performers

  • Darrien Chapman did not play in Saturday's ballgame but was a hitting menace in the suspended one, cranking out a pair of home runs to account for three RBIs and two runs scored.

  • Angel Perez made his first career pitching appearance to close out the suspended contest, not allowing a single earned run over three innings.

  • Abraham Ortiz pitched well, giving up just three runs in 5.2 frames of work and a trio of strikeouts.

  • Chris Soeder registered a double on top of scoring on April 15 while picking up the lone RBI of the afternoon on May 14.

  • Maury Weaver scattered three hits, two runs, a double plus a walk over the month-long hiatus.

  • Dreylin Holmes also logged three base knocks and a two-bagger in that timespan while Eric Johnson II also slugged an extra-base hit (double) as well.

Notes

  • The Diamond Devils will have to wait until next season to break its four-year tournament drought, when it dropped both games as the third seed in the East at the conclusion of the 2018 season.

The Green and White hopes to keep its losing streak from hitting a dozen on Sunday afternoon with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. in Montgomery.
