Baseball Drops A Pair Against Alabama A&M


MADISON, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State University baseball program led from the opening half-inning to the final half-inning of game one but fell victim to a walk-off before getting shutout in game two as it dropped both contests of the doubleheader.

  • Narvin Booker was impressive at the plate, going 4-for-6 (.667) with a pair of singles in each game to give him 11 multi-hit outings on the year.
 
  • Davon Mims used his 2-for-4 doubleheader opener to stay one step ahead of Booker for the team lead regarding multi-hit affairs, collecting his 12th of the campaign plus driving in a run and scoring once.
 
  • Jan Tolentino extended his on-base streak to 11-in-a-row with a base knock in the second contest while Jose Salazar-Ortega upper his streak to 14 straight in the series opener before going 0-for in the nightcap.
   
  • Hunter Stallings gave the Green and White a chance to win game one with a quality start of six innings and three runs allowed, surrendering just four hits and sitting down four as well.
 
  • Juan Reyes recorded the first two strikeouts of his career in his second full scoreless inning of his freshman campaign with Isaiah Valenzuela hurling 2.1 solid innings with just a single run given up.
Notes
 
  • Mississippi Valley has now lost more games in the SWAC when leading heading into the ninth as its won, going 2-3 so far in conference contests and 4-3 overall.
 
Game three will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Madison at James Clemens High School.
