Scouting The Arkansas State Red Wolves:
A-State, picked to finish fifth in the Sun Belt's West Division, will have its offense run through Preseason All-Conference First Teamer Macey Putt who led the SBC in kills (485), kills per set (4.25), points (535.5), and points per set (4.70) while recording 13 double-doubles a year ago.
The only other significant contributor returning for the Red Wolves is the 5-foot-11 middle blocker, Brianna Hollingshed, who averaged nearly a block per set (0.97) for the eighth-highest mark in the league.
Scouting The Little Rock Trojans:
The Trojans are expected to be a middle-of-the-pack squad in its first season of Ohio Valley Conference play while landing one player on the Preseason All-OVC team (Nedima Kamberovic).
Kamberovic, an extremely rare sixth-year student-athlete, averaged 2.63 kills and 0.60 blocks per set with a hitting percentage of .212.
Coming back is Little Rock's top blocker from 2021, Zanobia Willis, who ended the year third in the Sun Belt with a 1.06 block per set average.
Scouting The Saint Louis Billikens:
MVSU's first ever matchup against the Atlantic 10 Conference comes versus the Billikens of Saint Louis.
The inaugural matchup will pit the Devilettes against an 18-win club from 2021 that is projected to be among the top-half of the conference as five starters make their way back to Missouri.
One of the three starters is Jillian Mattingly, who led the A-10 with a top-25 nationally ranked hitting percentage of .389, the league's second-most blocks (118) and its fourth highest service aces total (38).
Two of the other returners are defensive diamond Carlie Rodgers (fourth-best digs per set rate in A-10, 4.52) and a top-three Atlantic-10 ace per set specialist Emily Henken (0.37).
