HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University volleyball program had some trouble getting the offense going in the Southern Miss Invitational opening day, falling to the Ladyjacks and Huskies in sweeps.

Mississippi Valley State Top Performers
 
  • Tyler Caliste led the Devilettes in scoring with 9.5 points and nine kills including a season-best seven kills plus a tied for season-high four assists against HBU.
 
  • Mikayla Lee contributed an average of five assists per match with a season-best six digs versus the Huskies as well as her first career multi-ace (2) affair.
 
  • Torre Giron clubbed a personal-high three kills to front the club in the match opposite Stephen F. Austin while recording a team-best 11 digs combined in the six sets and Destini Banks marked her 100th game in Green and White with her first block of 2022.
 
  • Veteran Chardea Berthelot made her season debut after missing the opening weekend with an illness, logging ten digs, five kills, and a pair of service aces.
 
Notes
 
  • Valley State set season-bests for both kills (15) and assists (13) as a unit versus Houston Baptist University.
 
MVSU ends the tournament with the host Southern Miss Lady Eagles at 3 p.m. on Saturday inside the USM Wellness Center.
