Mississippi Valley State Overview:

Chardea Berthelot returned to the fold last weekend and immediately put herself on the SWAC leaderboards, averaging the seventh-best service aces per set in the conference (0.33). The senior from LaPlace, Louisiana also joined teammate Destini Banks among volleyball student-athletes who have played 100 career matches for MVSU, reaching that mark in the final contest of the Southern Miss Invitational last Saturday.

Tyler Caliste is the Devilettes' top offensive weapon, fronting the ladies with 32.0 points (1.78 p/s), 25 kills (1.39 p/s), and four aces. She is also approaching a significant milestone herself, sitting four kills shy of 500 for her career at Valley State.

Freshman Mikayla Lee has recorded the best marks for hitting percentage (.030), assists (41), and digs (34) among her Devilette sisters with Chariah Mabry topping the blocks column at five.

Scouting The Tougaloo Lady Bulldogs:

The alma mater of Head Coach Mariah Prince, who spent three seasons on the volleyball team, has struggled in 2022.

TC has just one win in 16 tries (6.3%), defeating the Agnes Scott Aggies in four sets during the MUW Owls Invitational on September 10.

Despite the record, the Red and Blue have some talented players, mainly outside hitter Bailey Jones. Jones is averaging nearly three kills per set (2.98, 134 total) while more than tripling the Lady Bulldogs' second-best attacker's kill total, Donnayla Brown (43).

Setter Tatyeanna Armstrong is their top helper and server, lofting up 237 assists (5.27 p/s) and connecting for 12 aces.

Scouting The Belhaven Blazers:

The Blazers are mired in an even worse slump, getting swept in seven of its eight matches (87.5%) with its only set victory coming against Concordia-Texas.

Miriam Ateca currently sits third in the newly formed Collegiate Conference of the South with 5.52 assists per set and Ellie Jones ranks third as well in the league regarding blocks per set at 0.78 to represent the only Belhaven student-athletes among the CCS' best.

Three different BU players are jostling for the team's points lead as Emma Gardner holds the microscopic lead with 34 kills, followed by both Rylee White and Jeslian Vazquez at 33 apiece.
