ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University women's soccer program is looking to build off its best performance of non-conference action last weekend as it begins its quest for a championship Friday afternoon versus the Lady Jaguars of Southern University.

Mississippi Valley State Overview:
As a team, Valley State owns the top spot nationally for saves per game (11.40) and is fifth in the SWAC regarding both assists per game (0.40) plus shot accuracy (0.478).
Bailee Washington, coming off her first career multi-goal match, rising all the way up to fourth on the conference leaderboard with 0.40 goals per game, sixth for total goals at two, seventh regarding points per match (0.80), and ninth in total points of four.
Juliette Charriez recorded three points with a goal and an assist on Sunday, slotting third in the Southwestern Athletic Conference in assists a contest (0.25) and eighth for assists along with
Rahael Aka-Ety who leads the team in shots as well (6).
Scouting The Southern Lady Jaguars:
The Lady Jags come into the weekend after dropping both of its first two conference matches by one-nil home scores opposite Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Grambling State.
SUBR's three wins have come against two NAIA schools (LSU-Alexandria & Louisiana Christian) plus Nicholls (2-1) on the road with a scoreless tie against North Dakota State thrown in.
Southern leads the league in fewest fouls a match (7.00) and save percentage (0.793) plus second-best for goal-against average (1.700), shots per game (11.45), plus total goals (11).
Lonnie Mulligan currently stands as one of the top student-athletes in the SWAC, topping the conference in shots a match (4.00) and shots-on-goal per game (2.10) while racking up the second-highest goal (6) and point (12) totals.
Keeper Sydney Bellamy sits eighth in the country with 63 saves, 11th with 6.30 saves per match, and is second in the conference for both save percentage (0.788) and minutes played (900).
