Mississippi Valley State Overview:

Valley State has been among the top-half of the conference from the service line, averaging 1.27 aces per set to slot fifth in the SWAC.

Coach Prince's "ace in the hole" is Chariah Mabry, whose 11 service aces and 0.30 average are seventh and eighth in the league, respectively. She is also the team's best blocker, taking down ten attack attempts to front the Devilettes.

Torre Giron has logged the most digs on the club with 81 (2.19 p/s), Mikayla Lee is the primary setter at 4.39 assists per set (158 total) and a team-high 0.113 hitting percentage, while Chardea Berthelot is the leader on offense, averaging 2.20 points (61.5 total) and 1.89 kills (53 total) each game (set).

Scouting The Jackson State Lady Tigers:

The Blue Bengals from the Capital City split its opening weekend conference slate by sweeping Alabama A&M after getting surprised with a sweep themselves by the Lady Hornets.

JSU is either tops or runner-up in the conference for four primary statistical categories including assists per set (11.20, 1st), kills per set (11.91, 1st), digs per set (14.78, 2nd), and hitting percentage (0.167, 2nd).

Preseason All-SWAC First Teamer Alexis Williams is living up to the hype, sporting the second-best service aces per set ratio (0.44) in the conference and the fourth-highest kills per set average (3.33) with fellow First Teamer Olivia Flanagan right behind her in fifth for the latter (2.86).

Damassy Thompson and Trinity Bryant returned to complete the quartet of Lady Tigers that earned the top preseason conference honor while Taila Gaines was a second team selection.
