TULSA, OK - the Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball team battled against the University of Tulsa, but ultimately fell short with a final score of 79-50 on Tuesday night.
The game unfolded at a fast pace, and the Delta Devils found themselves trailing 40-24 by the end of the first half.
Arecko Gipson led the Delta Devils in the first half contributing 10 points on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting from the field. Despite the halftime deficit, Mississippi Valley State managed to maintain a respectable shooting percentage of 50%, connecting on 12 of their 24 field goal attempts.
As the game progressed, the University of Tulsa maintained control, securing a 79-50 victory over MVSU.
Notably, MVSU had three players who stood out with double-digit scoring contributions. Arecko Gipson led all scorers with an impressive game-high 19 points, showcasing not only his scoring ability but also contributing eight rebounds. Rayquan Brown had a strong performance with 17 points and six rebounds, while Donovan Sanders added 10 points, four assists, and two steals.
This upcoming game will be an opportunity for Mississippi Valley State to regroup, learn from their experiences, and come back stronger as they continue to navigate the competitive basketball season.

The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils will travel to Waco, Texas to take on Baylor University on Friday, December 22, 2023. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
