Box Score HOUSTON, TX - The Mississippi Valley State Diamond Devils opens the 2023 season with a win over Texas Southern on Day One of the Inaugural Cactus Jack HBCU Classic at the Minute Maid Park on Friday evening.
This is Milton Barney first win as head coach for the Diamond Devils.
The Diamond Devils closed the game in the bottom of the fifth with a double to the left field by Maury Weaver with an RBI single to bring Narvin Brooke home to score, 7-5.

B3 | Victor Figue reached an error by 2b, and advanced to second; Dreylin Holm scored, unearned (0-2, MVSU).
B3 | Ty Washingto doubled to right field, ground-rule, RBI; Figue scored, unearned (0-3, MVSU).
B4 | Maury Weaver grounded out to 3b, RBI; Narvin Booke advanced to second; Eric Johnson scored (0-4, MVSU).
B4 | Davin Mims singled to shortstop, RBI; Booke scored (0-5, MVSU).
B4 | Washingto walked, RBI; Figue advanced to second; Holm advanced to third; Mims scored (0-6, MVSU).
B5 | Weaver doubled to left field, RBI; Booke scored (7-5, MVSU).
