Jackson, Miss. - Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes lost its doubleheader game against Jackson State Lady Tigers on Sunday afternoon at the JSU Softball Field.
Game One
The Devilettes lost the lead late in an 8-5 defeat.
The game was tied at five with Jackson State batting in the bottom of the sixth when Khayden Harris singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.
MVSU got on the board in the first inning. Naomi Drake drove in one when Drake doubled.
The Devilettes racked up seven hits. Shelby Carson and Jade Smith each lead MVSU in hits. Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases. MyKaila Fleming led the way with five.
Morgan Gutierrez started the game for MVSU. The righty allowed eight hits and eight runs over six innings, striking out one.
Game Two
The Devilettes managed to stay in the game until the end as the Lady Tigers began to pull away late in a 16-8 victory.
The game was tied at eight with JSU batting in the bottom of the fifth when Marissa Medina doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Despite the loss, the Devilettes did collect ten hits in the high-scoring affair.
MVSU had ten hits in the game. Carson, Aulora Edwards, and Kathleen Sims each managed two hits to lead the team. Keisha White led the Devilettes with four stolen bases. She ran wild on the base paths with ten stolen bases.
Gleenabah Tsosie was in the pitcher's circle for MVSU. The righty went three innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and striking out two. Morgan Gutierrez threw two innings out of the bullpen.

The Devilettes will prepare to host the Lady Tigers of Grambling State on Wednesday, March 22, at the MVSU Softball Field. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. This game is dedicated to MVSU faculty - Faculty Day.
