ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes, as team lost the lead late in a 10-4 defeat on Wednesday afternoon at MVSU Softball Field.
The game was tied at two with Grambling State University batting in the top of the fifth when Jayda Williams doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. The Devilettes struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Grambling State, giving up ten runs.
In the second inning, Grambling State University got its offense started. Tatyianna Robinson grounded out, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Devilettes tied things up at two. Luttwanda Allen drew a walk, scoring one run.
Morgan Gutierrez started the game for the Devilettes. Gutierrez went seven innings, allowing ten runs on 11 hits and striking out three. Kaitlyn Harper went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead MVSU in hits.

The Devilettes will travel to Huntsville, Ala., to continue SWAC play against the Lady Bulldogs. The series will begin Friday, March 24 through Sunday, March 26, at Bulldog Field.
