LORMAN, Miss. - The Mississippi Valley State Diamond Devils collects an 8-4 win over Alcorn State on Tuesday evening at the Willie E. "Rat" McGowan Stadium.

Despite a big push by the Braves in the sixth inning, the Diamond Devils were able to collect the win.  

"We are starting to finish games the way we would like to - swinging the bats well and playing solid defense.," said head coach Milton Barney. "Stallings, McClendon, and Salazar all threw well for us today, and we supplied them with runs. We are now playing Valley State Baseball!" 

Hunter Stallings got the win for MVSU. The righty went six innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out eight. Calvin McClendon and Jose Salazar-Ortega entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Salazar-Ortega recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Diamond Devils. 

The Diamond Devils collected 12 hits. Victor Figueroa and Davon Mims each had multiple hits for MVSU. Figueroa led MVSU with three hits in four at-bats.

The Diamond Devils will travel to New Orleans to compete in a weekend series against the University of New Orleans beginning on Friday, March 10. This series will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
