GRAMBLING, La. – The Mississippi Valley State Diamond Devils prepare for a midweek game against Grambling State Tigers on Tuesday, April 11, at the Wilbert Ellis Field at R.W.E. Jones Park. The first pitch set for 6:00 p.m.

"Today is the beginning of a big second half of our season," said Head Coach Milton Barney. "Execution is a big part of our motto, and we look to start that today by doing all the little things right."

As a team, the Diamond Devils are currently ranked in numerous categories in the league: stolen bases (1st)/nationally (2nd), stolen bases per outing (1st)/nationally (2nd), sacrifice bunts (3rd)/nationally (13th), triples (3rd)/nationally (32nd), triples per game (4th)/nationally (47th), batting average (5th)/nationally (72nd), home runs (5th), home runs per game (5th), sacrifice flies (5th), slugging percentage (5th), hits (6th), runs (6th), on-base percentage (7th), and scoring (7th).  

Individual Diamond Devils are also ranked in the league and nationally. 

Davon Mims is currently ranked 2nd in the SWAC and the nation in stolen bases. Narvin Booker follows, ranked 4th in the league while nationally ranked 14th in stolen bases. Maury Weaver joins fellow Diamond Devils in stolen bases, as he is ranked 8th in the league and 47th nationally. And, 

Dreylin Holmes is currently ranked 12th in the league. 

Dreylin Holmes is also currently ranked in the league in sac flies (3rd).

Booker is currently ranked 5th in the league and 60th nationally in on-base percentage. Victor Figueroa joins fellow Diamond Devil in on-base percentage ranking in the league (11th). 

Figueroa is also currently ranked in batting average in the league (5th) and nationally (91st). 

Davione Hull is currently ranked 5th in the SWAC in sac bunts and 42nd nationally. Mims and Maury Weaver joins fellow Diamond Devil with a tied ranking in the league (9th) and nationally (82nd). 

Hull and Booker are currently tied in league rankings in triples (7th).

In addition, Hull is currently ranked in the league in slugging percentage (10th). 

Jose Salazar-Ortega is currently ranked 12th in the league in saves (1).
