Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Mississippi Valley State Diamond Devils had a tough time generating runs on Thursday evening against Alabama State Hornets, dropping 8-2, at Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
The Diamond Devils opened up scoring in the first inning. Davione Hull smacked a homer on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.
Hull, Michael Buckley, and Narvin Booker each collected one hit for MVSU.
Jose Salazar-Ortega took the loss for MVSU. Salazar-Ortega went seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out three.
"Salazar found his groove last night, but we didn't swing the bats as well,' said Head Coach Milton Barney. "We have to battle a little harder at the plate against a really good pitcher. Overall, we played well just a few miscues, but we are playing a good brand of baseball. We just have to put it all together."
