MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Mississippi Valley State Diamond Devils falls to Alabama State Hornets, 5-1, on Friday afternoon in game two of the doubleheader at Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
"This game was like the game one - tough," said Head Coach Milton Barney. "It is tough to play doubleheaders. It ultimately boiled down to the fact we didn't execute when it mattered the most!"
In the first inning, the Diamond Devils got its' offense started when Victor Figueroa drove in with a single.
Hunter Stallings was on the pitcher's mound for MVSU. Stallings surrendered four runs on eight hits over six and third innings, striking out two and walking one. Azalius Lewis threw one and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.
Maury Weaver, Dreylin Holmes, Christopher King, Figueroa, and Ryan Brown each collected one hit to lead MVSU. MVSU didn't commit a single error on the field.
Weaver had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.

The Diamond Devils will compete against Grambling State Tigers on Tuesday, April 11 at Wilbert Ellis Field at R.W.E. Jones Park. The first pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
