ITTA BENA, Miss. - Mississippi Valley State Athletics has selected baseball's freshman outfielder/pitcher Kameron Byrd as its Athlete of the Week for his recent performance.
In Sunday's game against Jackson State Tigers, the Diamond Devils were down 6-5 in the top of the ninth inning when Byrd singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs to contribute to the Diamond Devils' victory over the Tigers.Â
In the weekend series against the Tigers, Byrd stepped in the batter's box nine total times, with two RBIs, two hits, and one run.Â
Up Next for MVSU Diamond Devils:
The Diamond Devils will travel to Huntsville, Ala., to compete against the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M for its last series of the season. The series against the Bulldogs will begin on Thursday, May 18 through Saturday, May 20.Â
