Box Score 2 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Mississippi Valley State University Diamond Devils ends its 2023 season at Alabama A&M Bulldog Field on Friday evening in a doubleheader loss.
Game One
Despite the Diamond Devils out-hitting the Bulldogs ten to nine, it wasn't enough in a 4-3 loss.
AAMU got on the board in the first inning. Blake Martin drove in one when Martin singled and took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning as Chandler Stockings singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Dylan Whitfield took the loss for the Diamond Devils. Whitfield lasted three innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out two and walking one.
Azalius Lewis started the game for MVSU. The lefty lasted three innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out two and walking one.
Davione Hull led the Diamond Devils with two hits in four at-bats. MVSU was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ty Washington had the most chances in the field with four.
Game Two
The Diamond Devils lost despite out-hitting the Bulldogs 11 to seven, losing the lead late in a 5-3 defeat.
The Bulldogs trailed 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jared Tribett homered on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring four runs.
AAMU fired up the offense in the second inning. Tribett drove in one when Tribett doubled.
MVSU evened things up at one in the top of the third inning. Dreylin Holmes singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.
James Snipes took the loss for the Diamond Devils. Snipes went six and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out three.
MVSU tallied 11 hits in the game. Holmes, Maury Weaver, and Kameron Byrd each managed multiple hits. Byrd, Weaver, and Holmes each collected two hits to lead the Diamond Devils in hits.

The Diamond Devils will host a Prospect Camp on Saturday, June 24, at Magnolia Field from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
