ITTA BENA, MISS - Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils travels to in-state rival Delta State on, September 16.
Kickoff between the MVSU Delta Devils and the Delta State Statesmen is scheduled for 6:00 pm. in Horace McCool Stadium.
This the seventh meeting between MVSU and Delta State. Delta State leads the series with a 5-1 record.
The Delta Devils (0-1) opened their season at the 25th annual Chicago Football Classic at historic Soldier Field on September 2. A late field goal resulted in a 24-21 heartbreaking loss for the Delta Devils.
DSU (2-0) is coming off a 42-18 win over the Chowan University Hawks at Murfreesboro, N.C. on Saturday September 9.
MVSU and Delta State are located approximately 45 minutes apart. Although the Delta Devils are the away team, it will feel like a home game to a lot of people on the MVSU roster.
First year Head Coach, Kendrick Wade of the MVSU program is a Cleveland, Mississippi native and was a key role as the wide receivers coach for the Statesmen last year as they went 11-2 with a share of the Gulf South Conference Championship.
Multiple players who are currently on the MVSU roster and are key players on the defensive side of the ball transferred from the 2022-2023 Delta State (11-2) team. Senior defensive back Caleb Canada, senior defensive back Brandon Williams and senior defensive lineman Tim Williams played at DSU last year.
