INDIANAPOLIS – Mississippi Valley State takes a 45-3 loss to North Carolina Central in the Circle City Classic inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
The loss moves MVSU to 0-3 on the season.
MVSU won the coin toss but chose to defer and start the opening drive on defense.
Defensively, junior defensive back
Aaron Webb led the team with a game high 10 tackles. Senior defensive back
Anthony Blakely also added six tackles with one tackle for loss. Sophomore defensive lineman
Detrick Jones assisted in the defensive effort with five tackles and one tackle for loss.
On the offensive side of the ball, eight different Delta Devils caught a reception at least once.
Malik Antwine led the way with five receptions for 44 yards, followed by
Kerrick Ross with two receptions for 18 yards.
Jared Wilson led the way on the ground with 83 yards on 12 attempts.
Jakobe Thomas added a spark with one rushing attempt for a 33-yard run.
MVSU junior kicker,
Anthony Turnage pushed through a 44-yard field goal to give Valley points on the scoreboard.
UP NEXT
MVSU will host Florida A&M on Saturday, September 30
th at 6:00pm for the home opener on the season.
