ITTA BENA, MS - Mississippi Valley State University's men's basketball fell 80-64 to Bethune-Cookman University at the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex on Saturday night.
The game unfolded with the Wildcats jumping out to an early 13-0 lead over the Delta Devils.
As the first half progressed, MVSU found themselves trailing BCU 29-12 with 4:54 remaining.
Despite the initial setback, the Delta Devils displayed resilience, mounting a comeback that saw them cut the deficit to single digits. A steal and a layup by
Danny Washington contributed to the momentum, bringing the score to 31-23. In just two minutes, MVSU orchestrated an impressive 11-2 run, showing their determination to claw back into the game.
However, as halftime approached, the BCU Wildcats managed to maintain their lead, heading into the break with a 39-28 advantage over MVSU.
The second half saw MVSU making several comeback attempts, but Bethune-Cookman University would win the game.
Despite the challenges,
MVSU fought hard, with
Rayquan Brown and
Donovan Sanders leading the charge. Brown finished the game with an impressive 30 points and nine rebounds.
Donovan Sanders also made significant contributions, tallying 10 points and five steals.

Looking ahead, the Delta Devils are set to host Florida A&M University on Monday, January 22, 2024, with the game scheduled for 7:30 PM.
