ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University athletics program recognizes women's basketball's
Jaylia Reed and men's basketball's
Arecko Gipson as the MVSU student-athletes of the week.
Each week, MVSU Office of Athletic Communications recognizes two student-athletes. This award recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in competition, in the classroom, and in the community over the past week, exemplifying the Championship Culture of MVSU.
Jaylia Reed, a junior guard from Hot Springs, Arkansas averaged 16.5 points this past week during games versus Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M. Reed shot 42.3 percent from the field and was effective from three-point range shooting 44 percent.
Arecko Gipson, a senior, from Memphis, Tennessee scored 21 points, seven rebounds, and two assists this past week in competition against Florida A&M University. Brown is a starter for the Delta Devils and is an impact player with his production on the floor.
