Four Devilettes Score in Double Figures in Tough Loss to Grambling

The game began with an explosive display from the Devilettes as they surged to an early 13-7 lead over GSU, ignited by the sharpshooting of Jaylia Reed, who drained three consecutive 3-pointers behind the arc. However, Grambling State responded to control the first quarter with a commanding 34-23 lead.

MVSU continued to battle fiercely in the second quarter, even as GSU stretched their lead to as much as 17 points. Despite facing adversity, the Devilettes refused to yield, heading into halftime trailing 53-39 but still poised for a comeback.

The second half witnessed a resurgence from MVSU, fueled by the relentless efforts of Sh'Diamond McKnight. With 5:27 remaining in the third quarter, McKnight came in clutch with a layup and a free throw,to complete a three-point play, narrowing the deficit to three points with the score 56-53. Throughout the remainder of the game, Mississippi Valley State continued to mount comeback attempts, with GSU maintaining a slim lead.

Despite the Devilettes' tenacity, Grambling State secured the victory with a final score of 81-71. Nevertheless, Mississippi Valley State showcased their resilience and talent, with four players scoring in double figures.
