Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) put up a resilient effort in a hard-fought contest against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (UAPB), ultimately falling 35-21. The Delta Devils showcased determination, trading touchdowns with the Golden Lions through the first three quarters.
MVSU's offense found success on the ground, highlighted by
Ty'Jarian Williams' 124 rushing yards and a score.
Jakobe Thomas and
DePhabian Fant each added rushing touchdowns to keep the game close, including a crucial 8-yard run by Fant in the third quarter that briefly gave MVSU a 21-14 lead. Williams also demonstrated his versatility, contributing in the passing game with 159 yards on 15 completions.
The defense made key stops and recorded two sacks, but UAPB's offense capitalized on big plays in the final quarter. With the game tied 21-21, UAPB connected on two long touchdown passes that sealed the victory.
Despite the outcome, the Delta Devils showed flashes of promise and will aim to build on the positives as they look forward to the remainder of the season.
