BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has announced its 2024 Soccer Postseason Honors. The all-conference teams and individual award winners were voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors. In order to be eligible for awards a student-athlete must have participated in a minimum of 75 percent of team games played this season.
Texas Southern's Isabella Dillow and Southern's Giftee Tor, were both named Co-Offensive Player of the Year while Texas Southern's Alyssa Taylor, was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year.
Alabama A&M's Jasmine Perez-Acosta was named Midfielder of the Year and Southern's Sydney Bellamy claimed Goalkeeper of the Year.
Alabama A&M's Czaske Deane was voted Freshman of the Year and Texas Southern's Kendall Ayers and Southern's Jeremy Fontenot were both named Co-Coach of the Year to round out the list of individual award winners.
Co-Offensive Player of the Year
Dillow was a key contributor for a Texas Southern Tigers team that claimed their first league regular season title in school history. She ranked first in the conference in game winning goals and was a key component for Texas Southern's offense throughout the duration of regular season play.
Co-Offensive Player of the Year
Tor had a phenomenal year for the Southern Jaguars as she helped lead them to a third place finish on the league's final regular season standings. She tallied two game winning goals in conference play as SU won five games during league competition.
Defensive Player of the Year
Taylor played a significant role in Texas Southern's success this season serving as a key player in the back line. In large part due to her efforts the Tigers boasted one of the league's top defensive units ranking second in opponents goals per game in conference play.
Midfielder of the Year
Perez-Acosta started and played in all of Alabama A&M's games this season. She leads the team in points (11) after four goals and three assists so far this season. Perez-Acosta is also tied for most goals on her team (4) during regular season competition.
Goalkeeper of the Year
Bellamy was a key contributor for a Southern Jaguars soccer team that completed regular season competition with a 5-1-2 league mark. The Jaguars claimed the No. 3 seed in the 2024 SWAC Soccer Tournament in part due to the significant contribution of Bellamy inside the net. She tallied 101 saves while logging 1,519 minutes of action.
Freshman of the Year
Deane played in all of Alabama A&M's matches while starting in nine. She is tied for most goals on her team this season (4) and second-most shots on goal (13). Deane also tallied one game winning goal during league regular season competition.
Co-Coach of the Year
Ayers has led TSU on sensational run during her first season as head coach. This season, she guided the Tigers to a 6-1-1 overall conference record and earned the No. 1 seed in this year's SWAC Tournament. Texas Southern was crowned SWAC regular season champions for the first time in school history.
Co-Coach of the Year
Fontenot led the Southern Jaguars to an impressive season as the Jaguars finished regular season league competition with five wins. Southern claimed the No. 3 seed in the 2024 SWAC Soccer Tournament with a 5-1-2 overall league record.
