ITTA BENA, MS - In a thrilling matchup at the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex, the Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils secured a historic victory on Monday night, defeating Prairie View A&M University 57-51. The triumph not only marked their first win of the season but also added an unforgettable chapter to Senior Night celebrations.
 
Right from the tip-off, the Delta Devils demonstrated their determination, leaping out to an impressive 8-0 run that set the tone for the game. They maintained their momentum throughout the first half, heading into halftime with a solid 27-23 lead. Not once did Mississippi Valley State University trail in the opening half, showcasing their resilience and focus.
 
As the second half unfolded, the intensity on the court escalated, with Prairie View A&M fighting tooth and nail to narrow the gap. The game remained tightly contested, with 12 lead changes. Every possession became crucial as both sides battled for the lead.
 
In the closing minutes, MVSU with the game on the line, displayed remarkable composure, sinking all six of their clutch free throws within the last 25 seconds, sealing the victory as celebrations displayed amongst players and fans who stormed the floor.
 
Leading the charge for the Delta Devils was Rayquan Brown who scored 21 points, four rebounds, and one block. Alongside him, Donovan Sanders scored 12 points, dished four assists and collected three rebounds. Danny Washington contributed 12 points, eight rebounds, and two steals, while Arecko Gipson added 12 points and four rebounds, further solidifying Mississippi Valley State University's dominance.
 
The win not only signifies a remarkable achievement for the Delta Devils but also serves as a testament to their unwavering dedication and perseverance throughout the season.

The Delta Devils will travel to University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Saturday March 2, 2024. The game is scheduled for 5:30PM.
