Big Second Inning Leads MVSU past HSSU For the Second Straight Win

ITTA BENA, MS. – Mississippi Valley State University Baseball won 15-1 in the second game on Saturday March 2 at Magnolia Field to take the lead in the series 2-0 over Harris-Stowe State University. 
 
Starting pitcher Blake Bax earned the win for Valley. Bax allowed four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out five and walking two.
 
Dylan Whitfield threw for one inning. Whitfield allowed one hit, one run, and struck out two.
 
Isaiah Valenzuela closed the game. Valenzuela pitched for one inning, struck out two, and allowed one walk with zero runs.


GAME NOTES
  • Jack Early and Simon Yoakum IV each had two hits and drove in two RBIs. Aaron Coats had two hits and one RBI.
  • Kyndell Dolphin drove in two RBIs.
  • MVSU's highest-scoring inning was the second, when it pushed 10 runs across.
  • MVSU accumulated 13 hits in the game.
  • MVSU baserunners were aggressive collecting three stolen bases.
  • MVSU's defense turned two double plays.
  • This is the second consecutive win for MVSU baseball.

The Diamond Devils will host the the third game of the series on Sunday, March 3 at 12:00 p.m at Magnolia Field.
