MVSU Baseball Falls Short to Alabama A&M on Senior Day

ITTA BENA, MS - The Mississippi Valley State University baseball team fell 11-9 to Alabama A&M University at Magnolia Field on Senior Day.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Mississippi Valley State opened the scoring with one run in the second inning to grab a 1-0 lead.
 
AAMU responded in the third scoring three runs on a two-out rally.
 
In the bottom of the fourth, MVSU added a run on the board with a solo HR to left field by Kyndell Dolphin bringing the score 3-2.
 
MVSU erupted in the sixth inning with six runs scored on seven hits including a 2 RBI double by Benny Hernandez, to take an 8-3 lead.
 
In the top of the eighth, AAMU scored six runs and too an 11-9 lead that sealed the game.
 

GAME NOTES
  • Mississippi Valley State finished with nine runs on 15 hits, had three errors and left eight on base.
  • Ty Washington went 2-for-4, with three runs scored
  • Benny Hernandez went 2-for-5, with two RBI and one run scored
  • Elias Pena went 3-for-5, with two RBI and one run scored
  • Armando Sierra surrendered three runs (one earned) on six hits, struck out three and walked one in 6.0 innings
  • Isaiah Valenduela, Dylan Whitfield and Brayden Eftink worked in relief
  • Mississippi Valley State's highest-scoring inning was the sixth, when it pushed six runs across the plate.
