TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Mississippi Valley State Baseball defeated Florida A&M 7-3 on Friday to hand a senior day loss for the final game of the season.
Armando Sierra earned the win for MVSU. Sierra allowed 10 hits, three runs, over nine innings, striking out one, and walking two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the fourth inning, junior
Benny Hernandez hit a three-run homerun, and
Jack Early hit an RBI single to push MVSU's lead to 4-0.
The Rattlers first put a run on the board in the sixth inning when Sophomore Jordan Brown came across to score the only run of the inning for Florida A&M off a sacrifice fly by Sebastian Greico to bring the lead 4-1.
In the top of the seventh inning, senior
Maury Weaver singled down the left field line to bring
Dreylin Holmes in to score pushing the MVSU lead to 5-1. Florida A&M picked up a run on senior
Ty Jackson's solo home run, which brought the score to 5-2 in favor of the Delta Devils.
In the eighth inning,
Benny Hernandez hit his second homerun of the day to extend the MVSU lead to 7-2. The Rattlers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Broedy Poppell. Neither team scored again and Mississippi Valley took the win to end the season.
