Valley Shows Promising Signs in Best Showing of SWAC Slate

 
JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University volleyball program held the lead for the majority of the third set, topping the Tigers by a margin of 16-9 at its largest point, but Jackson State roared back to ultimately win the set and the match.

Devilettes' Top Performers: 
 
  • A pair of career-highs were recorded on Wednesday in Jackson as Mariana Franco tallied four assists (1.33 p/s) and Carmella Jones went for three digs (1.50 p/s).
 
  • Alaya Rhodes led the Devilettes in almost every category, a nearly nightly ritual for the Memphis native, fronting the pack in points (12, 4.00 p/s), kills (10, 3.33 p/s), digs (5, 1.67 p/s), and blocks (1, solo) while being one of two players on the visiting side to post a positive hitting percentage (0.143).
 
  • The other student-athlete was Aniyah Moore, who average a kill per set (2) for a 0.333 efficiency rate and blocked a shot as well.
 
  • Leticia Franco has now hit double-digits in assists for the 12th time in 15 games (80%), logging 11 (3.67 p/s) to go along with a pair of digs.
