Coach Wade Nets First Career SWAC Win vs. Alcorn

ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University volleyball program is in the win column during SWAC play after defeating the Alcorn Braves, 3-1, on Monday night.

It was a milestone victory for Head Coach Kimberly Wade, her first career conference triumph as the leader of the Devilettes.

The hard work, day in and day out, finally paid off for these young ladies, notching their most points (59), digs (48), kills (44), assists (40), and service aces (10) against an NCAA Division I opponent to date in 2025, as well as holding the Braves to the team's lowest hitting percentage allowed (0.070).

Devilettes' Top Performers: 

  • Alaya Rhodes has become must-watch volleyball for the Green and White, collecting her first double-double of the season (fourth at Valley) courtesy of a season-most 17.5 points, 14 kills (3.50 p/s), and 13 digs (3.25 p/s), all on top of blocking a career-high four attacks.

  • New career benchmarks were all the rage against Alcorn where Dashaun Pinesette tied her previous best of a dozen digs (3.00 p/s), Mariana Franco had four assists (1.00 p/s), Carnella Jones dug up a trio of balls (0.75 p/s), and Carrington Archer lit up the court via four service aces.

  • Speaking of Archer, the setter set a season-high for points (4, 1.00 p/s), all from the service line.

  • The last season-most category went to Ashlynn Hawkins, whose multi-ace outing was her second of the year.
